A little ink sketching today. Having fun with flowers and vines.
Happy Sunday!
Since I started doodling a while back, I stopped worrying about making mistakes while sketching and just going with it. I think that has really helped me loosen up and sketch freely. I also try to keep in mind that not every sketch is going to work out and that is part of learning and growing.
I surprised myself with these ink florals. I just love how they turned out.Β I catch myself looking at them and saying, wow I did that! π
July Floral – 9 x 12 inch Canson Mix Media sketch book
For each of the flowers I started in the center and worked my way out. After dropping the flowers in place, I added the vines and leaves. I used a .03 Micron pen for the sketch and a .005 for the detail.
Another quick floral sketch just before adding detail.
I’ve been trying to add enough detail without going overboard. If I let myself go I will add too much and it will look a bit harsh.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Thank you for stopping by and following along. Until next time, share a smile and spread kindness all around.
Happy Painting!

These are lovely Patty Anne, I love the details with the finer point. I often just keep going with my favorite liner pen, a .04, I’ve got to try more pen sizes, I’ve got a full range…I have enjoyed #worldwatercolormonth a lot, but am looking forward to getting back to other media too, especially my ink and markers!

I do love B&W sketching, these flowers are so nicely rendered they pop right off the page.

These are lovely! Itβs ironic how not worrying how it will turn out actually improves the final result. I definitely find thatβs true for me too.

Yeah, just recognizing that feels like a breakthrough for me.

True beauty. I love what you’ve done here. I know I’m all about “exploring colour” but I’ve actually come full circle and have developed an appreciation for what can be found in black-and-white. It would be fun to have a black-and-white week on my blog and do a black-and-white post each day for a week. Just thought of that while looking at your ink sketch! If I did that, would you permit me to post your sketch on the first day of the b&w week? with proper credit and links back of course π

I really like using βBee Paper Company – Bee Pen Sketcherβ for my B&W doodles. The paper is so smooth and affordable. I even saw it in the grocery store the other day! π
