I hope these happy yellow flowers brighten your day.
Happy Sunday, friends! ๐
I had a planย to paint some yellow flowers this week. I thought a simple sketch would be a good first step.
With the sketch by my side I jumped in and painted the two biggest flowers first. I started by wetting the paper where I planned to position the top section of each flower.
While the paper was damp, I dropped in lots of color in different areas and watched the blossoms come alive. I used a few different shades of yellow and green in this painting and I think that made it more interesting.
I love the loose results with this one and decided to stop at this point. Sometimes it’s good to step back and not push things.
I wasn’t sure about a background and thought it might be fun to see what I could come up with in Procreate.
I imported my painting into Procreate and played around with layers. I dotted the background with the cool spray paint effect. It took a few tries before I found the right size and placement of the spray that I liked.
While writing this post, I noticed that the pretty light blue spray added some movement to the piece.ย Oh, what a nice bonus!
I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Thank you for stopping by and following me on this creative journey.
Until next time, share a smile and shine on!

Fun experimenting Patty Anne, the looseness of the paint adds the needed dimension and the added spray of blue makes the flowers pop off the page.

Oh Patty Anne, your yellow blooms are simply stunning! I like them without the background better I think, but it’s fun that you can experiment and have the best of both worlds!

Very pretty effect. I wonder if it would have come out differently if you used a granulating blue like ultramarine or Verditer Blue? Either way, nice work!! ๐
