Leaves and wildflowers in watercolor

watercolor leaves painting practice

A little practice to share with you today. I’ve been having fun painting borders, leaves, and wildflowers.

Hope your day is wonderful, friends!ย ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š

I started painting leaves and playing with a border design.

Using a #6 round brush I painted each vine with leaves randomly placed on each side. I didn’t stress about the shapes and just tried to have fun with it.

Instead of using a pen this time around, I decided to outline my leaves with watercolor. Using a #2 liner brush with thick color and very little water, I was able to get some nice definition and clean up the leaf shapes. It wasn’t as easy as using a pen, but it worked well.

A little practice with wildflowers trying to keep things loose and simple.

I recently enjoyed a Skillshare class by Camilla Damsbo Brix, Painting Loose Watercolor and beautiful Wildflowers.

I painted this vase of wildflowers after watching the class.

The glass vase got away from me on this one but I’m happy with the loose flowers. It was a good practice and I had fun with it. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to do a better job with the vase. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Thank you for following me on this creative journey.

Until next time, share a smile and stay excellent!

  1. I love your wildflowers!! I hope to check out this class you recommended today. I have been working on drawing flowers so I can improve my skills. Pinterest has been a great resource. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŽจ
