A little watercolor and ink fun to share with you today.
Happy Sunday, friends!Β π
I started off with a base layer of of leaves in different shades of green.
At this point I decided to add in some playful ink lines and detail.
Although I was happy with the addition of a little sketching on top, it was still a bit dull and boring. I wish I had a photo to show you what this second step looked like…
I decided another layer of watercolor was needed. The painting was too flat and dull. Since I was using 140 lb. watercolor paper I knew that it could handle more paint. I used a waterproof pen so I wasn’t worried about the ink bleeding.
I bumped up the greens and added some bright yellow and blue. Sometimes going back in with more paint can be a little scary but I knew this one really needed it.
As I found with this painting, there are always creative decisions to make along the way and something to learn from each painting. My plan is to just keep on painting, learning,Β and having fun.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love.
Until next time, share a smile and shine on!

Really enjoyed seeing your process. I am a new watercolorist and sometimes get a little afraid of adding more, but your painting looks really good and you inspire me to listen to my intuition.
