Looking back at a summer bouquet

summer bouquet watercolor and ink painting

I have a watercolor and ink floral to share today. Another painting that I set aside waiting for the right time to add a final layer of ink.

Happy Sunday, friends! πŸ’š

A soft watercolor with happy colors sets the stage.

Big loose shapes painted on Arches hot press watercolor paper.

Hot press watercolor paper is smooth and has a nice surface for ink sketching. This paper works really well for this style of art.

I like the addition of ink for a little detail and unexpected doodles. The doodles are fun and just make me happy.πŸ˜€Β There’s always a little risk when adding ink sketching on top but as long as I don’t overthink things or add too much ink, it usually works out well.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love.

Until next time, share a smile and stay excellent!

  1. Hi Patty, you always add the right balance of ink with your beautiful florals! πŸ’— Not as easy as it looks I have discovered! I tend to add too many colors or patterns. I need to watch some of the art videos you suggested from Skill Share! 🌼🌿🌸
