I started out thinking that I was working on an under painting for an ink sketch. As the painting developed my plan changed. Sometimes you think you are moving in one direction and then you end up in a different place altogether.
Happy Sunday, friends! π
I used a large round brush (#12) for this painting and a few of my favorite colors. π
After loading the brush with paint, I started dragging it down the page in random places using the side of the brush (not the tip). I really like the texture this created. Allowing some white of the paper to remain was very important. I continued this way alternating between purple and blue paint.Β
Near the end, I decided the piece needed something more.Β Ok I thought…maybe a little more color. I selected yellow ochre and was pleased that the addition provided some needed warmth and balance.
This painting was full of fun and experimentation. Although it’s not my usual style,Β I really enjoyed the process and results. I may try a few more like this in the future.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love.
Until next time, share a smile and shine on!

I really like this abstract painting, Patty Anne. You mentioned that you added yellow ochre. Would you mind telling me what other colors you used? Were there two blues? (Blue happens to be my favorite color.)

Hi Mike, thank you! ππ
I used carbazole violet, and yes, two different blues: phthalo blue and cerulean blue. Blue is my favorite color as well. π

Thanks. The Cerulean Blue was the one that I trouble identifying. π
