Holly and berries watercolor and ink

I will be taking a little blogging break and will be back in early January.

Now I’m off to baking cookies, wrapping presents, and getting ready for holiday parties.

Watercolor bookmarks

I made bookmarks last weekend for couple of very special women in my family. Before wrapping them up I thought I would share them with you.

Happy Thursday, friends! 😊

It started with aΒ 6 x 9 inch painting of transparent flowers.

After it dried, I cut my painting in half and trimmed each bookmark to a nice size.

Then I punched a hole in the top of each bookmark and added a bright green ribbon.

Oh I love that color, it looks so pretty with my painted bookmarks.Β πŸ’š

I enjoyed making these gifts and hope they will be loved.

Until next time, share a smile and shine on.

Holly Jolly trees

A colorful post today with a few bright Christmas trees! πŸŽ„

Happy Sunday, friends! 😊

Christmas pine watercolor

A fun little tree that I painted a few weeks ago after watching a Jennifer Branch video online. Bright colors + splashy paint = lots of fun!

Another joyful tree with a different color palette.

This felt like the right post for today since I will be busy pulling out the decorations and getting my house ready for Christmas.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Thank you for stopping by and following me on this creative journey.

Cheerful Holiday lights

I thought it would be fun to paint some holiday lights. I hope you enjoy this nice pop of color.

Happy Sunday, friends! 😊

Christmas lights watercolor

I painted these lights after watching a fun tutorial by Jennifer Branch,Β Christmas Card, Retro Lights.

A light sketch first then lots of splashy color. Once completely dried, a few ink lines with a micron pen. Not trying for perfection here, just playful and fun.

Do you remember these old school lights?Β They bring back many sweet memories for me. We used to decorate the pines in our yard each year with these big bright lights when my boys were young. I miss those days but cherish the memories…πŸŽ„β€οΈ

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Until next time, share a smile and have a great week!

Christmas branch

Another watercolor painting for Christmas.

Happy Sunday friends! πŸ™‚

Christmas branch watercolor

9 x 12 inch Christmas branch on bee watercolor paper

Leaves are one of my favorite things to paint and sketch. I decided it would be fun to paint a cheerful branch. I now have my second Christmas card for this year. Yay! πŸ™‚

I started with layers of light green leaves using a round #12 brush. I allowed each layer to dry and worked up to darker leaves in different shades of green.Β  For the last layer of pine needles, I switched to a flat angle brush which helped me get some nice variation and added texture.Β As a last step I used a white gel pen for a hint of snow and a few highlights.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Thank you for stopping by and following along. Until next time, share a smile and have a great week.

Happy Painting! ❀

Christmas Card painting

I recently watched a tutorial by Shayda Campbell,Β  Candle in the Window Christmas WatercolorΒ and then painted this cute little scene.

Happy Thursday!

Christmas candle watercolor

I modified the greenery a bit and added a little more detail. This painting makes me so happy. It’s going to be one of my Christmas cards this year.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love.

Until next time, share a smile and spread kindness all around.

Happy Painting!
