Delicate watercolor floral

Sometimes I just want to paint flowers. Today I have a sweet delicate piece to share with you.

I painted these flowers a few months ago. I really love this one. It has been in my drafts folder for quite a while just waiting for me come back to it.

One interesting note about this painting is that the flowers were painted using a cut plastic credit card instead of a brush. The delicate stems and leaves were painted with a very small brush.

Pretty Peonies – 9 x 12 inch watercolor sketchbook

A little watercolor practice painting Peonies and leaves.

This floral came together rather quickly. I started in the center with the larger flowers and worked my way out. I layered playful leaves to add movement and fill in space all around the Peonies.

A rather short post today… I’m trying to get used to this new block editor. 😊

Potted Flowers – Collage Art

I had fun working on a collage piece this week. Hope these joyful flowers bring you a smile.

I started out playing with an idea using pieces of recycled cards, scrapbook paper, and watercolor paintings.

I arranged my cut shapes to create a few flowers. Then decided on including a flower pot…

For the flower pot, I used a clothing catalog to cut out a few rectangle shapes. I added some pretty gold craft tape for a nice edge on the pot.

A little close up… just love those button centers!

I really enjoy creating with collage and this was a fun piece to put together.

Flowering tree with ink doodles

I just love a flowering tree and today I have one to share with you. 🌼🌸

Happy Sunday, friends! 💚

It started with the simple idea of painting a tree… and so out came the watercolors.

 

A playful tree full of swirls became my under painting. I decided on a rainbow of colors for this one.

When I finished I set the painting aside for a while. I like to think about the sketching a little before diving in. That happens quite often.  😉

 

I started playing with different flower doodles and added with some leaves. I really like the contrast of the loud flowers on top with the quiet playful flowers falling to the ground.

Although this piece is really all about the flowers, I love the color and texture of the tree trunk.
