A little ink sketching today. Having fun with flowers and vines.
Since I started doodling a while back, I stopped worrying about making mistakes while sketching and just going with it. I think that has really helped me loosen up and sketch freely. I also try to keep in mind that not every sketch is going to work out and that is part of learning and growing.
I surprised myself with these ink florals. I just love how they turned out. I catch myself looking at them and saying, wow I did that! 🙂
July Floral – 9 x 12 inch Canson Mix Media sketch book
For each of the flowers I started in the center and worked my way out. After dropping the flowers in place, I added the vines and leaves. I used a .03 Micron pen for the sketch and a .005 for the detail.
Another quick floral sketch just before adding detail.
I’ve been trying to add enough detail without going overboard. If I let myself go I will add too much and it will look a bit harsh.

I love the combination of a simple ink sketch with soft colors.

Sketched using a black Micron pen, size .03
I bought a set of black Micron pens with a wonderful travel case. It had room for additional pens and so… I filled it up. 🙂 I also managed to fit my mechanical pencil in the case as well.
I love having this little case next to me whenever I am sketching, everything I need is visible and right on hand. ❤ I’ve mentioned these pens in other posts and thought you might like to see what I’ve been using.
I like to think that I am painting myself happy. I hope you enjoy seeing my happy art and it inspires you create and do something you love.
Thank you for stopping by and following along. ❤ Until next time, share a smile and sprinkle kindness everywhere.
