Holiday lights watercolor

I’ve been busy getting ready for the holidays. Yesterday we started decorating and hanging lights at my house. I love all of the beautiful lights everywhere this time of year.

Happy Sunday, friends!  ❀️

Holiday lights watercolor and ink

Last week I painted some holiday lights. After the watercolor dried, I used a pen for some outlining and a little detail.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love.

Until next time, share a smile and shine on!

Holiday botanical painting

I have a little holiday watercolor and ink sketch to share today.

Happy Thursday, friends! πŸ’š

holiday watercolor background

I started out playing with a simple watercolor border of branches, twigs, and berries.

Then I decided it would be fun to add a little ink sketching on top.

I outlined some leaves in ink and added a few more twigs and bits to fill things in.

The ink seems to pull it all together. I always enjoy the final sketching phase and try to play and have fun. I just have to be mindful of when to stop. That’s always the hardest part.Β  😁

Sparkle Tree watercolor

Another Christmas card painting to share today.

Happy Sunday, friends! πŸ’œ

Christmas tree watercolor before sparkle added

I painted my tree using a 1/2 inch flat brush. I need to remember to pick that brush up more often. 😊 I really like the purple and blue together.

Once again, I put my new gold and silver pens to the test…

A few Christmas Cards

I painted a few Christmas card recently. I always enjoy these fun little projects.

Happy Thursday, friends!Β πŸ’š

painted cards for christmas

I started with a few simple paintings. Then decided it might be nice to add a little sparkle with some ink.Β  I found a set of pens in gold, silver, and white online. yay!

painted cards with little ink touches

Oh, I love these new pens. The gold ink on the Christmas tree adds the perfect little touch.

I’m not sure how many cards I will get painted this year but I’ve decided to not stress about it. I am going to enjoy the process and do what I can.

I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Until next time, share a smile and stay excellent!

Cheerful Holiday lights

I thought it would be fun to paint some holiday lights. I hope you enjoy this nice pop of color.

Happy Sunday, friends! 😊

Christmas lights watercolor

I painted these lights after watching a fun tutorial by Jennifer Branch,Β Christmas Card, Retro Lights.

A light sketch first then lots of splashy color. Once completely dried, a few ink lines with a micron pen. Not trying for perfection here, just playful and fun.

Do you remember these old school lights?Β They bring back many sweet memories for me. We used to decorate the pines in our yard each year with these big bright lights when my boys were young. I miss those days but cherish the memories…πŸŽ„β€οΈ

I hope you are inspired to create art and do what you love. Until next time, share a smile and have a great week!

Happy Painting!
