More Inktober sketching

A few more sketches to share for #Inktober. It’s been a lot of fun, hope you enjoy!

Happy Sunday, friends!

Black-eyed Susans ink sketch

Sketching things that make me happy, like these flowers.

When sketching flowers it’s easiest for me to start in the middle and work my way out. I usually place a few light dots on the paper as a guide for the initial placement before putting down any heavy marks.

Duck ink sketch

A little duckie, simple and sweet…

For my birds, I usually need a light pencil sketch first in order to get the correct placement and shape of the head and eye.

This little guy makes me happy. ๐Ÿ’›

Birdie ink sketch

A little bird looking away

I think the light areas are just as important as the dark areas. For this little sketch, I kept the head darker and tried to keep the chest and underside soft and light.

Purple flowers ink and watercolor

Watercolor added to this sketch brightened things up. The blending and variation of color in the leaves and stems worked well here. ๐ŸŒฟ

I hope you are inspired to create art and do something fun!

Until next time, have a great week!

Happy Thursday! ๐Ÿ™‚

feather doodle ink sketch

9 x 12 inch Favorite Feather Doodle

I sketched the outline of a feather and divided off sections for doodling. I’ve been trying some new patterns and having a lot of fun. I worked on this feather a few evenings while relaxing and watching television.ย This doodle makes me happy, I think I will frame this one. โค

Inktober sketching

Inktober is a drawing challenge started by Mr. Jake Parker where artists from all over the world take part in working on an ink drawing each day for the month of October. I am participating this year by sketching what I love when time allows.

Hope you enjoy my little sketches this week.

Happy Thursday!ย  ๐Ÿ˜Š

Poppy ink sketch

6 x 9 inch – Poppy flower

I’ve been using fine tip pens and trying to keep a light touch when sketching flower petals. I think it is starting to get a little better.

Floral for inktober

6 x 9 inch Flowers and vines

Sunflower ink sketch

9 x 12 inch Sunflower

A happy little flower inspired by a sunflower in my garden. ๐ŸŒป

Ink tree sketch

9 x 12 inchย  – Standing tall

Working on the leaves in this sketch was easier and more fun once I started to doodle and let go. I tried to be careful to leave enough white space and develop some areas more than others.

Birdie in a cup ink sketch

9 x 12 inch – Little birdie in a tea cup

All of my ink sketches are on mix media paper using Micron pens of various sizes. I like mix media paper because it is smooth and has a great surface for ink sketching. The other nice thing is that it can handle a little watercolor if I choose to add some color.

I hope you enjoy seeing my art and are inspired to do what you love. Thank you for stopping by and following along. Until next time, share a smile and spread kindness all around. ๐Ÿ’—
