Today I have a some summer flowers to share with you. All photos were taken with my iPhone. I love this time of year and always look forward to these pretty views in my yard.
Right outside my door in the evening. This just makes my heart sing!
Oh that golden yellow color. 💛
Hello beautiful!
I was so excited when these pink beauties bloomed. I’m so glad I was able to enjoy them a few days and got a few nice photos when I did. I expected them to be around a while with all those buds waiting to open.
Unfortunately we had some visitors stop by and eat all of the pink lilies. Looks like I’m going to have to move them closer to the house. I think that will keep them safer from deer and other critters.
What’s blooming in your garden?
Until next time, share a smile and shine on.

I’ve been playing in my sketchbook and have a few pages to share with you. I layered watercolor shapes with markers. It was a fun and easy exercise that I hope you will try as well.
I’m always inspired by watching Shayda Campbell videos on YouTube. She has so many great ideas for filling your sketchbook. I love her style and enjoy her watercolor tutorials.
I painted simple watercolor leaves and flowers all over the page. I love the combination of peachy pinks and soft browns together.
Once the page dried I used my dual tipped Tombow markers for some detail. I’m always amazed how adding detail with a pen or marker really wakes things up. I tried to keep the detail all very simple but I did get carried away with a few of them. 😉 Looking over my page, I really like the simple flowers much more.
Note to self…whether painting or drawing with markers, you have to know when to stop.
For my second page, I switched up the colors. I covered the page with a variety of leaves. I ended up with a nice little playful pattern.
Wow, the fuschia really added a nice punch of color. Nothing shy or boring about that color.
These dual tip markers are really nice to work with. They have a fine tip on one end and a larger brush pen on the other. I do need to practice more to learn how to control the brush pen though.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Art is for everyone and I hope you play and fun in your sketchbook too.

I have a joyful sketch to share with you today. This simple piece makes me happy. I hope it brings you a smile as well.
Happy Sunday friends! 💙
I started out with some playful flower shapes using my two of my Tombow watercolor brush pens. Nothing difficult, just having fun. Oh, I love those colors!
9 x 12 inch – Love is Love
Then I used a pen to outline my flower petals and add a few simple touches. The ink pulls it all together and brightens up this playful piece.
Once again I am reminded that less is more 😊
I think this would make a lovely card. I’ll have to give that a go.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Until next time, share a smile and sprinkle kindness everywhere!

I have been making more cards with my watercolor cutouts. It’s a joyful process for me and I hope my creations bring you a smile.
Happy Sunday, friends! 💚
I always start with a few of my painted flowers and leaves. They work quite well for card making.
I add a little ink detail and outline each piece to create a nice shape. It’s amazing the difference a little ink can make.
Tip: When I cut out the watercolor pieces I leave a tiny paper border around the ink outlined shape.
Blank cards with envelopes are easy to find online or in the craft store.
I like the simplicity of a just few pieces on each card.
It’s fun to play around with the arrangement using different pieces until I find something I like. Then using a glue stick, I secure the pieces down and place a heavy book on top to add a little pressure.
Tip: Baby wipes are by my side for my hands…. I don’t do sticky very well. 😊
What I love about making and sharing cards using my art is that they are part of me.
A gift from the heart shared with family and friends is a special thing. 💗
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Always remember that art is for everyone.
Until next time, have a creative week and shine on!

This week I was back to painting roses again with coffee and watercolor. It’s always fun to look back at previous work so I included some roses from the past here as well.
Happy Sunday, friends! 💚
I started with a center rose and then worked my way around. I love to paint with espresso powder for baking. Adding a few drops of water to a little powder and you have a beautiful “coffee” paint ready to go. I used a round #6 brush here. There is so much you can do with a round brush. I have a number of different sizes, just love them.
Painting Tip: Keep an eye on your brushes. Over time the tip of a round brush will wear down. I just noticed that I have a few brushes that I need to replace.
This time a little more color with some bright watercolor roses. This style is a bit more modern botanical…I like that.
and now looking back to a playful painting of roses from last year… I really love the colors and the movement in this one.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Having art in my life is such a blessing. Painting and sketching makes me happy and I am thankful that I can share my journey with you.
I will be taking a blogging break for a few weeks. I am busy getting ready for a bridal shower that I’m hosting later this summer. I will still be around and may post a few things on Instagram.
Until next time, share a smile and stay excellent!

I have a joyful piece to share with you today. Another watercolor floral with ink sketching… my favorite way to create.
Happy Sunday, friends! 💜
In my 9 x 12 inch sketchbook, I started by painting flowers and leaves. My favorite blues and purples this time. I let the colors mix and mingle on the paper which is what I love about watercolor.
The overall piece needs balance and more interest but at this point that’s ok. The ink sketching to come will fill in space and wake things up.
9 x 12 inch – Sweet Season
There is always a little fear when adding the sketching layer. I just tell myself that this piece is incomplete as is and round two (sketching detail) will take things to the next level.
What you don’t see is that I keep playing and sketching different types of leaves and flower patterns in my other sketchbooks. That type of play helps build my confidence and my sketching “muscle memory”. Then when I need it, I can pull out my favorites to add to a bigger piece like this one.
When it feels right and I have a window of free time, I pull out the painting, grab my pens and start adding some playful ink sketching and doodles.
I hope you are inspired to create art and do more of what you love. Art is for everyone, hope you join in on the fun.
Until next time, share a smile and shine on!
