Lovely Summer Flowers

Today I have a some summer flowers to share with you. All photos were taken with my iPhone. I love this time of year and always look forward to these pretty views in my yard.

Right outside my door in the evening. This just makes my heart sing!

Hello beautiful!

I was so excited when these pink beauties bloomed. I’m so glad I was able to enjoy them a few days and got a few nice photos when I did. I expected them to be around a while with all those buds waiting to open.

Unfortunately we had some visitors stop by and eat all of the pink lilies. Looks like I’m going to have to move them closer to the house. I think that will keep them safer from deer and other critters.

Playing in my sketchbook brings me joy.

This little sketchbook is 5 x 5 inches and just perfect for a quick ink sketch.

 

Little bird and flowers… These pages just make me smile.

In my sketchbook I can explore ideas and not worry about making mistakes. Sometimes the results are good and other times not so much. It gives me an opportunity to try different compositions and elements on a small scale.

 

A simple watercolor landscape…calm and soothing.

Just three colors used in this painting, Prussian Blue, Sap Green, and Green Gold.

 

Some pretty flowers in my garden. This photo was taken using my iPhone in portrait mode. Such lovely colors and interesting shapes. Oh happy day!

Pink Lily watercolor doodle

I have a fun watercolor and ink doodle to share today.

Happy Thursday, friends! 😊💚

 

A few of my favorite things to paint…flowers and leaves.

I used a big round #12 brush for my watercolor underpainting. Then the decision was to keep painting adding more detail or stop painting and proceed later with ink.

I decided to go forward with ink sketching using a Micron pen.

Pink Lilies – 12 x 18 inch

I like how the ink wakes up the flowers and the doodles add a little extra fun.
